DFB candidate Keller: “Decision not easy”

On Thursday, the DFB’s Finding Commission announced that Fritz Keller, president of SC Freiburg, is to become the new president of the association. The reactions to the world of football were positive.

Christian Seifert (Managing Director of the German Football League): “In the years of cooperation I met Fritz Keller as a very valuable interlocutor –as club boss, but also as DFL Supervisory Board and within the framework of the DFL Foundation. Fritz Keller has a heart for football. In addition, he is distinguished by an independent spirit of enterprise and a great sense of responsibility and constancy.”

Rainer Koch (DFB Vice-President and member of the Finding Commission):“Fritz Keller is without a doubt an exceptional personality with all the qualities for the office of President. Decades of experience with a close connection to professional and amateur football, including women’s football and youth work, as well as a great entrepreneurial life achievement distinguish him.”

Fritz Keller (candidate and president of SC Freiburg):“With a view to SC Freiburg, it is my decision, to be available for the office of President of the DFB, anything but easy. (…) Since the two offices would not be mutually compatible, in the event of a successful election as DFB President, I will resign my office as President of SC Freiburg with a heavy heart.”
