The handballers of the SG Flensburg Handewitt have won the championship in the eighth finals of the Champions League. At the White Russian Champion HC Brest there was a 30:28 (14:14) victory for the German champion.
The most successful pitchers of the match were Rasmus Lauge with eight goals for the North German and former SG-professional Petar Djodjic with six hits for Brest. The rematch will take place next Sunday in Flensburg.
The first phase of the game was determined by the goalkeepers. Ivan Pesic at the hosts and Torbear Bergerud at the Flensburgers showed numerous parades. Only gradually did the series of attacks gain access to the game.
After the change of sides, the North Germans, who have so far won all comparisons with HC Brest, became stronger and stronger. From a 15:16 delay (34.) the SG made up to 52. Minute a 29:21 tour.
In the final phase, however, the Belarusians shortened to two hits and thus obtained a residual chance for the remainder of the game.
On Saturday evening the Flensburgers wanted to start their return trip. On Thursday, for the table leader who has not lost a Bundesliga game in a year, the important game at SC Magdeburg is on the agenda.
