Following in Friedrich’s footsteps: Hertha hopes to stay strong

With his strong achievements, Niklas Stark of Hertha BSC has not only attracted the interest of Federal trainer Joachim Lion. Borussia Dortmund and FC Bavaria Munich are said to have already reached out to the new national player. In Berlin, however, one hopes for a stay of the inner defender –as once at Arne Friedrich.

“I decided to stay in Berlin at that time because I felt very comfortable in the city and the club”, Friedrich explained the “Sports Image”, but stressed: “However, if the priority is to win titles, the chances at other clubs are of course greater.”

The former national player would be happy if Stark stayed with Hertha for a long time.” The fact that you can develop excellently in Berlin is undisputed,”said the 39-year-old.

Although Friedrich has been a firm member of the national team since 2002, he has been faithful to the Capital Club for eight years. For Hertha manager Michael Preetz, the former interior defender is a model for Niklas Stark in several points.

“The parallel to Arne Friedrich is absolutely there. Not only because of the incredible pace, the enormous headfall and duel strength,”said the 51-year-old:”Both played first as legal defenders and only later as internal defenders. Niklas is also very valuable in the defensive middle field.”

Does Hertha Stark attract with the captain’s tie?

If Stark remains, the youngster even has a very special position to hold. Here again Arne Friedrich is a good example, who made most of his 82-country games in the Hertha jersey and became captain here”, Preetz Stark made a stay tasty.

According to the “Sport Image” the young interior defender could actually step into the footsteps of Vedad Ibisevic and lead Hertha to the place in the future as captain.

Stark changed in the year 2015 to the bargaining price of three million euros from Nuremberg to Berlin. His contract with the old lady is still up to 2022. Strong ransom should be at 25 million euro.

Sport1, already reported in February, that the defensive player plays a role in the transfer considerations of FC Bavaria in strengthening the defensive for the coming season.

According to the “picture” the BVB has entered the poker game around the 23-year-old. Therefore, Stark is “at the top of the wish list” of the badges.
