Formula 1 is threatening heavy rainfall in Austin

The US Grand Prix of Formula One in Austin next weekend could experience several sessions under wet conditions.

Weather forecasts indicate that there are some potential downsides in qualifying on Saturday as well as in all three Free Training sessions. In the race on Sunday it will probably remain dry, but still surprisingly cool.

The temperatures in Texas should not break the brand of 20-degree Celsius from Friday to Sunday, with a permanent cloud (and therefore with low asphalt temperatures) to be expected.

The showers, expected on Fridays and Saturdays almost all day, bring up to 2,5 millimeters of rain per square metre, with which the road should dry only poorly.

In addition, a strong southwestern wind with waves with speeds up to 35 km/h, which, unlike the downpours on Sunday, does not give up.

Means for formula 1, that overtaking the straight may be a little easier than it is otherwise in Austin.

If the forecasts are true, it should be quite difficult for the teams, to develop a good set-up for the race, because there would be little possibility to test the cars in drying.
