This season Patrick Herrmann is one of the performers of Borussia Munich. But about a year ago the offensive player almost ended up at VfB Stuttgart.
“It was already very concrete with Stuttgart, there were several conversations,” Herrmann admitted in an interview with the “picture” and explained: “I never wanted to leave Gladbach, but I had scarcely any bets and extreme fear that half the year before In the summer with an expiring contract and my injury history suddenly without a club.”
The deal failed, however, because there was no agreement between Gladbach and the VfB.” Max Eberl then clearly communicated that they would not let me go either –which was an important sign for me,”said Herrmann.
In May 2019 the 28-year-old then extended his contract to 2022. Trust pays off so far. In this Bundesliga season Herrmann shines with five goals and four templates.
Herrmann also sees Gladbach trainer Marco Rose as a reason for his strong achievements: “What he lets play is also exactly my thing: run the opponent at a sprint pace, conquer the balls high and then zack-off into the box and gate closure!”
