The Tunisian Ons Jabeur is the first Arab tennis player ever to enter the Wimbledon Quarterly Final.
The 26-year-old girl took out the French Open winner of the previous year with 5:7, 6:1, 6:1 on Monday in Iga Swiatek (Poland). Until now Jabeur had only reached the last eight rounds of the Australian Open 2020.
In the third round Jabeur had already defeated the former Wimbledon winner Garbine Muguruza from Spain. Her good lawn shape had shown the number 24 of the world right in front of the Grand Slam highlights when she first won a title on the WTA Tour in Birmingham.
