Schumacher and Co. Who’s gonna be the next big name?

A starter field in formula 1 with the names Schumacher, Fittipaldi and Alesi sounds like from the past, but could be the future of the royal class. In the new series there are some young drivers with famous surnames, who are about to jump into Formula 1.

Mick Schumacher

No name has raised as many expectations in Formula 1 in recent years as that of Mick Schumacher.

The son of the seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher drives after his European Championship 2018 in formula 3 this year in Formula 2. Ferrari also signed him for his Driver Academy.

The new Ferrari team leader Mattia Binotto acknowledged the “special emotional significance” of Schumacher, “but we chose Mick because of his talent as well as his human and professional qualities.”

Pietro Fittipaldi

Pietro Fittipaldi is one step further. The grandson of the two-time Formula One World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi has a contract for this year as a test driver at Haas F1 in his pocket.

The 22-year-old in the test tours in Abu Dhabi after the end of the last season gave his rank in the king class of motor sports.

Enzo Fittipaldi

Enzo Fittipaldi has another grandson in the starting holes. The 17-year-old has been a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2017, winning the Italian Formula 4 title. This year he will try his luck in the European formula 3.

Giuliano Alesi

Giuliano Alesi has no world-class surname. The son of former Formula One pilot Jean Alesi is also a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and after three years in the GP-3 series 2019, he ascends to Formula 2. This is a fantastic opportunity.

This is a new category, a new adventure that I am very looking forward to,”says the 19-year-old Frenchman.
