Tedesco defends controversial personnel decisions

Schalkes trainer Domenico Tedesco defended his position at the departures of Naldo and Benedict Howedes as well as at the “degradation” of goalkeeper Ralf Ferrmann.

“There have been different situations and therefore they cannot be compared to each other,” Tedesco said at “Eurosport”: “Basically I do I do not think about how I look to the outside, but must make the decisions as they are best for Schalke.”

For the departure of former Captain Benedict Howedes, who now plays at Lokomotive Moscow after a loan to Juventus Turin, Tedesco said:”We never sent Bene away. I have explained this several times. This is a topic that will be picked up again because we have changed in the gatekeeper area.”Naldo, who changed to AS Monaco surprisingly during the winter break, would have liked Tedesco to continue in the switchboard jersey.” Yes, definitely,”said the 33-year-old.

Sebastian Rudy took Tedesco into protection for the 16-million-new access criticized. Basti didn’t have it easy with us at first. He came when the preparation was almost over,”he said,”We have repeatedly said that we do not want to put a huge backpack on him. This backpack is automatically applied to you when you come from FC Bavaria Munich, when you are a national player and when you switch to FC Schalke 04. Our task is to accelerate this process.”
